Battle of Yigo Monument
This monument commemorates the final match of World War II on Guam. As Americans moved up the center point of the island toward the beginning of August 1944, the Japanese sustained their situations around Mt. Santa Rosa. On August 5, the U.S. Army's 77th Infantry was bombarded with artillery. They, at last, endured the Japanese barricades and got the culmination of Mt. Santa Rosa on August 8. The memorial is just off Route 15 and Chalan Loan, not far from the back gate.

Pacific Peace Memorial Park
This memorial commemorates all those who died in Guam during World War II. It is located just off Marine Corps Drive at Mataguac, the last Japanese command post site. Although the island was secure, General Obata, Commander of the Japanese forces, was still holed up in his command post. American troops stormed it on August 12, 1944. Rather than give up, General Obata ended it all in his dugout.

There are also private schools in the Archdiocese Agana Catholic School System, including Trinity Christian School and Dominican Catholic School. Being so close to the AAFB, Yigo is home to the Department of Defense Schools. The Andersen Elementary and Middle School are part of the U.S. Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools on the island for children and wards of active-duty military members and federal employees. 

Surrounding Cities

Being Guam's second-largest village on the island, Dededo is a famous city resident of Yigo ventures for a trip as its proximity allows it. Dededo is Guam's second-largest and most populous village, encompassing thirty square miles of northwestern Guam. Dededo is home to the Micronesia Mall, the largest shopping mall in Micronesia. Along Route 16, several small stores and other businesses cater to the area's residents. Likewise along this strip is a two-story McDonald's café, the Guam Power Authority fundamental business office, and the gated Iglesia Ni Cristo Church. In addition, off the highway at Fatima Road, several vegetable stands are selling local crop products.

Furthermore, the village of Mangilao is located in central Guam. It lies between the towns of Barrigada and Chalan Pago. The village also stretches off into subdivisions bordering Dededo and Yigo. These subdivisions include Banyan Heights, Latte Heights, Latte Plantation, Sunrise Villa, and lower and upper Pagat. The town has been called Guam's capital of schooling on the grounds that both the College of Guam and the Guam Community college are situated there. A few other government organizations are likewise located in Mangilao, including the Division of Public Wellbeing and Social Services, Department of Agribusiness, the Branch of Corrections, the Department of Youth Issues, and a few schools. Although there are many other famous cities nearby, residents of Yigo don't need to travel far to enjoy some special activities the village itself doesn't offer.

From the base, Guam's National Wildlife Refuge Ritidian Beach is around a fifteen-minute drive away.
