On the eastern side of Guam, Yona sits between Talofofo in the south and Chalan Pago-Ordot in the North. Yona is located between the Pago and Togcha Rivers. The village center is located on cliffs above Pago Bay.
Previously a farming community, during World War II many Chamorro people were imprisoned in camps in Yona before being liberated when the Americans took the island. Today Yona is still a small village though it is mostly residential. People who live in Yona can access Naval Base Guam via Route 4.
Though Yona itself is relatively small, it’s close to Talofofo and Ipan which draw residents and tourists from all over Guam. The Country Club of the Pacific, and Leo Palace Resort, a luxury destination, are also in Yona. The Windward Hills Country Club is the oldest public golf course on Guam. Hamamoto Tropical Fruit World, best described as a fruit utopia, sits on fifty acres in Yona. Natural sites of interest in the area include Tarzan Falls, Sigua Falls, Taga'chang Beach Park, and Turtle Cove.
